Description
Just before sunset, late in February, Horsetail Falls on El Capitan presents a phenomenon often called the natural Yosemite firefall. With the sunlight streaming through the thin sliver of the waterfall, it brings out a gorgeous bright orange color that looks like a fire flow or "lava flow"! It is the result of a perfect alignment of the sun, the waterfall and the placement of the viewer. This event happens once a year, in mid to late February and only for a few days. I was so fortunate to be in Yosemite National Park at the right time. What an amazing sight! It was truly magical.
